The medical
assistant

Students are expected to sit for and successfully pass one of the credentialing exams: the national certified medical assistant (cma) exam to receive the credential cma (aama). Apply online for medical assistant training this non-credit accelerated training program combines classroom instruction with clinical practice. Classroom instruction, which includes hands-on lab exercises, is conducted at the corporate college or forest park campus. Additionally, a healthcare provider basic life support credential through the american heart association may be required. The clinical practice takes place at partnering employer locations in offices such as family medicine, internal medicine, ob/gyn, orthopedics, pediatrics and surgery. A strict attendance policy is enforced throughout this training. This training prepares students for the certified clinical medical assistant (ccma) certificate supported by the national healthcareer association (nha).
This program is only offered at the west campus in new port richey. Cpr certification, phsc course nch0050, american heart association “basic life support for health care providers” is a requirement of this program. In order to receive a certificate, students must obtain satisfactory scores on the test of adult basic education (tabe) with a minimum grade of tenth grade reading, language, and mathematics or an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university will satisfy the tabe requirements. A physical examination certifying satisfactory health is required. Students are required to submit a criminal background check and drug screening.

All applicants must have their transcripts sent directly from their school or organization or sent in a sealed envelope. Transcripts or other official documents must indicate that the program was completed with a completion date.
Applicants must submit proof of completion of one of the following medical assistant training programs:
completion of a medical assistant program offered by a school accredited by the accrediting bureau of health education schools (abhes) or a program accredited by the commission on accreditation of allied health education programs (caahep); or
completion of a medical assistant program offered by a school accredited by a regional or national accrediting organization recognized by the us department of education, which includes a minimum of 720 clock hours of training in medical assisting skills, including an externship of no less than 160 hours; or.

The most widely recognized national certification for medical assistants is the certified medical assistant (cma) through the american association of medical assistants (aama). To become a certified medical assistant, individuals must be able to meet a number of requirements: candidates are required to have graduated from a medical assisting program (may be a one-year certificate or diploma program or a two-year associate degree program) that is accredited by either: candidates must take and pass the cma certification examination.
Arizona, massachusetts, new jersey, north dakota, south dakota, and washington require the completion of some sort of medical assisting education program. However, caahep accredited medical assisting programs meet the requirements of these six states. Therefore, our program meets the educational requirements of these states. All other 44 states do not require certification and because our program exceeds that requirement by leading to certification we have determined we meet the requirements to become a medical assistant in those 44 states.
